RAPID
The RAPID study (Retrospective Analysis of Patterns and rIsk factors in Dysrhythmias) is a large retrospective research project aiming to analyse anonymised clinical data from around 2,300 patients treated for cardiac arrhythmias or conditions associated with an increased risk of arrhythmias.
Using information collected during routine care - including electroanatomic maps, ECGs, cardiac imaging, blood tests, and genetic testing where available - the study aims to better understand why arrhythmias develop, why they recur in some patients, and which factors influence treatment success. Researchers will also examine long-term outcomes such as arrhythmia recurrence, hospitalisations, and the need for repeat procedures.
By combining imaging, electrophysiological, and clinical data, RAPID aims to identify markers that could help personalise treatment, improve patient selection for catheter ablation, and support earlier and more accurate risk stratification. All data used in the study will be fully anonymised and handled in accordance with UK data protection and research governance standards.
